About The Position

HDR is seeking a Senior Solid Waste Engineer to join our Solid Waste Practice in the Anchorage, Alaska office. The primary duties of this position will include all aspects of engineering and project management for projects primarily focused on the municipal solid waste (MSW), industrial waste, and recycling industries, with an emphasis on system planning, engineering analysis, cost estimating, design, construction management, pollution control systems, and permitting/regulatory compliance. Specific duties will include planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of landfill and monofil liner and final cover systems, storm water controls, groundwater monitoring and remediation networks, leachate management systems, landfill gas collection and control systems, and site layout/infrastructure elements (utilities, roads, support buildings, soil borrow areas, etc.). The Solid Waste Engineer will function as a lead project designer, engineer of record, and project manager on mid-size projects, and is expected to demonstrate a history of progressive experience effectively leading similar scale projects. This individual will be expected to effectively manage multi-discipline project teams, work closely with HDR national technical experts, and adhere to HDR quality program requirements. They will also be expected to provide support with securing new work from existing and potential clients, coordinating the work of professional staff and subconsultants throughout project assignments, performing engineering functions and complete project tasks, coordinate with clients in the execution of work, and participating in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. They must demonstrate leadership experience in taking a project from planning through design and construction to operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Project Engineering and Project Management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 5 years of solid waste engineering experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of general Civil/ Environmental Engineering experience
  • Civil/ Environmental Engineering experience with an emphasis on MSW facility design, permitting, and construction.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Local candidates are preferred.
