Senior Software Verification & Validation Engineer (Test Automation)
About The Position
Roche Sequencing is changing lives by developing powerful bioinformatics algorithms, data analysis tools, and software/systems infrastructures for researchers and clinicians to make better health decisions faster. As a Senior Verification & Validation Engineer, you will design/develop verification tests, develop test framework and infrastructure, plan test strategies, and document design history for Roche Sequencing products. Your work will contribute to cutting-edge laboratory workflow software for NIPT and Oncology test offerings, enabling better diagnostics and treatments for diseases like cancer and improving early prenatal diagnoses. This role offers meaningful work in developing innovative technology that saves and improves lives globally, within a highly collaborative team of industry-leading engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Science in Computer Science (or equivalent field); or a Masters in Computer Science or equivalent field
- 5+ years of experience in software development or software verification or validation
- Demonstrated experience using Agile SW development and accompanying tools
- Demonstrated experience authoring design history and software release documentation
- Demonstrated experience working with global teams
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Familiar with modern automated test technologies (Selenium, GitHub, etc.) across a variety of platforms

- Familiarity with SQL and basic database operations
- Experience working in a regulated development environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical knowledge clearly, especially to non-experts
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under ambiguous situations
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize and handle multiple changing projects and priorities
- Completes work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of lab personnel, assay developers, algorithm scientists, and technical leadership.
- Author and confirm correctness of requirements-driven tests, covering testing approaches, levels, and types.
- Automate and execute front-end and back-end tests for instrument software and web applications.
- Participate in requirements, architecture, and design specification reviews.
- Collate and report quality metrics and enhance quality dashboards.
- Perform root cause analysis of defects and support on-market issue investigation.
- Document design history as required by standard operating procedures and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Partner with developers and other V&V personnel on engineering excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support audits by providing test evidence and documentation.
