About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is hiring a Senior Software Test Engineer for a full-time, 100% U.S.-based remote role supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a W-2 position with a salary range of $85,389–$116,975. Candidates residing in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI). Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and other background checks. This is not an SQA tester position: strong programming skills are required, typically in languages such as C#, .NET, Java, or Python. The engineer develops and executes test plans, cases, procedures, and scripts; leads testing and verification activities; documents results and metrics; and supports issue analysis and resolution. The position may also involve other systems engineering activities, including requirements, design, installation, operation, sustainment, and support. The role calls for independent technical problem-solving, collaboration with internal teams and customers, and mentoring or providing direction to others. The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, along with at least 10 years of total professional experience and at least 10 years in software testing and quality assurance. Military veterans are encouraged to apply. Candidates must provide resume-supported answers to mandatory screening questions; interviews are conducted on Microsoft Teams with camera enabled, and applicants will be asked for a LinkedIn profile link.
