Requirements

  • A working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 (series)
  • Experience during design, development, use, and maintenance of safety-critical software systems and their integration with safety-critical hardware systems
  • 5 years of Software Safety Engineering experience
  • At least 4 years of experience of conducting or assisting in software and or firmware analyses
  • Familiarity with Joint Software Systems Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH), DO-178C and DO-331
  • Ability to create briefings in PowerPoint and brief to a technical audience
  • Ability to analyze, research, assess, and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations
  • Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate technical meetings and working groups
  • Extensive experience in systems safety, with a proven track record of successfully mitigating hazards in complex systems
  • Familiarity with DoD/aerospace safety requirements & policy to include AR385-17, IEEE C95.1, DOD4145.26
  • Understanding of design reviews process and design gates for large Department of Defense (DOD) procurement programs
  • Understanding of risk and hazard assessment, mitigations and acceptance
  • Demonstrated experience developing and presenting safety assessments to a diverse audience
  • SECRET level clearance or higher
