About The Position

The Senior Software Product Manager - eCommerce will lead the exploration, definition, implementation, and execution of the GM Energy eCommerce backend ecosystem. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with peer Product Managers, business stakeholders, technical counterparts, integration partners, and creative agencies to manage the systems powering the GM Energy eCommerce experience. Key integrations include Order Management System (OMS), payment platforms (EPG, Adyen), Home Purchasing Platform (HPP), CRM/Salesforce, Oracle, Adobe, Datadog, IBM middleware, Shopify, and logistics/fulfillment integrations. The position requires a self-starter, fast learner, customer-first mindset, ability to prioritize, and thrive in ambiguity. The ideal candidate is passionate about customer experience, understands eCommerce backend and digital best practices, and can bring innovative ideas to support EV adoption and the customer journey for energy products and services.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in product management, program management, and/or customer experience, with meaningful time spent on back-end eCommerce systems
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated experience owning OMS roadmaps, order orchestration, fulfillment states, exception handling, returns, and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience managing API integration and development efforts across complex teams and systems, including contract definition, error handling, and observability.
  • Hands-on experience writing and managing initiatives, capabilities, features, and acceptance criteria in Jira/Jira Align.
  • Experience leading UAT, coding verification, and production cutovers across complex, integrated environments.
  • Strong analytical orientation, KPI definition, platform performance analysis, A/B testing, and reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to report and present to senior leadership on a frequent basis.
  • Familiarity with software product management practices and agile (Scrum / SAFe) delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Senior Software Product Manager for the GM Energy eCommerce backend platform, owning strategy and roadmap for backend integration services.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to shape ideas, develop creative briefs, and refine system designs with technical and agency teams.
  • Lead backend workstreams through stakeholder, legal, finance, tax, and security reviews; feedback management; testing/QA; and launch prioritization.
  • Own the OMS roadmap for GM Energy end-to-end, defining and governing the order lifecycle state model and exception-handling rules.
  • Lead logistics and fulfillment development with 3PLs, carriers, installers, and dealer fulfillment teams, defining outbound fulfillment publishing, milestone ingestion, API integrations, and SLA-driven escalation paths.
  • Define data models, reference data, and master data for orders, customers, products, SKUs, promotions, and entitlements; ensure data integrity across Oracle, Salesforce, Shopify, and OMS.
  • Perform coding verification in partnership with engineering reviewing API payloads, validating event/tag implementations, sampling logs, and confirming back-end behavior meets functional and non-functional specs.
  • Explore, define, write, prioritize, and manage product initiatives, capabilities, features, epics, and user stories in Jira / Jira Align, including acceptance criteria, dependencies, NFRs, and release sequencing for back-end deliverables.
  • Partner with IT-DEV and PMO in Refinement, Sprint, and PI planning, sprint demos, and program syncs; manage the back-end feature backlog to support agile delivery.
  • Author and manage SOWs and SLAs with vendors, integrators, and agency partners ensuring scope, deliverables, performance metrics, uptime targets, and escalation paths are clearly defined and monitored.
  • Establish program measurement (KPIs, reporting) and monitor back-end platform performance, recommending and implementing countermeasures where appropriate.
  • Understand and champion customer needs; gather customer feedback through direct and indirect sources, including GM Energy Advisors, support tickets, and post-purchase signals, ensure the product vision and roadmap meet those needs.
  • Conduct effective project updates for stakeholders, including senior leadership with pre-reads and compelling storytelling.
  • Support broader GM Energy strategies and projects as required.
  • Instill a culture of organizational excellence, including proactive, collaborative, supportive engagement cross-company.
  • Embrace data-driven and customer insights to inform plans, launches, and iterations.
  • Establish a strong, effective, and empathetic rapport with teams across-company to ensure all programs launch flawlessly and with high Dealer, customer, and stakeholder enthusiasm.
  • Ensure a culture of performance: establish bold targets, KPIs, and proactively employ countermeasures based on performance of programs vs. objectives.
  • Develop and present GM internal leadership updates with pre-reads and compelling storytelling.
