About The Position

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead talented engineers to enhance and expand the features of our blockchain-based products and the supporting platforms. You will drive the technical direction and engineering culture within your team and contribute to the culture of the broader Invest / Trading group. You will also help drive operational excellence in our systems and processes. You will work with the lead engineers and product managers to maintain an up to date roadmap and to ensure the roadmap is executed. You will mentor and coach your direct reports, ensuring continual engagement, growth, high performance, and job satisfaction. You will participate in solutioning for new features and products, helping to drive innovation to bring new value to users. Our goal is to design, develop, deploy, and support customer-facing and distributed systems that serve millions of customers, with a focus on safety, security, and customer experience. We believe in fixing what's broken, automating wherever possible, and constantly improving our processes. This role is required to be in person twice a week at our New York City, NY office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in software development with languages such as: Java, C++ or Scala.
4+ years of experience managing teams of software engineers in a high precision, regulated industry.
Proven track record of developing and maintaining large-scale, distributed systems.
Experience with agile development methodologies and a commitment to following best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Familiarity with cloud technologies and microservices architecture.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the crypto or fintech industry.
Understanding of blockchain technologies and crypto wallets.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain an engineering roadmap as well as co-developing the technical strategy that will continue to drive technical innovation and drive large scale business growth.
Ensure that the product vision is realized through excellence in execution and operations. Work with Product teams and business leadership to efficiently deliver on business and product outcomes in a rapidly evolving industry, with a strong focus on maintaining the high level of availability and security for our users.
Lead the scaling of Gemini’s engineering teams through recruiting strategies that efficiently identify & attract the world’s top engineering talent; develop Gemini’s current talent by honing functional and qualitative skills.
Develop and maintain development methodologies which allow development teams to rapidly iterate and provide consistent quality at high velocity. Plan the development of highly automated build, test and deploy frameworks in collaboration with our infrastructure teams and other internal groups.
Lead, manage and mentor engineers. Manage staff goals, performance feedback, career development and opportunities for continuous learning.
