Our safety critical embedded software is developed via design control procedures used within the medical device industry. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager in the Cardiac Rhythm Management organization, you will leverage your technical breadth and your leadership skills by leading teams that are responsible for designing, developing, verifying, and delivering post-market support for implantable embedded software. The Device Embedded System team develops life-restoring therapies and diagnostic healthcare solutions that span the care continuum; integrating technologies and applying clinical and economic evidence to increase patient access, improve efficiency of procedures and deliver successful patient outcomes. We are looking for highly motivated and accountable software leader looking to innovate in a fun and fast paced environment with a passion to improve peoples’ quality of life. This individual will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process. This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) unit. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or math and minimum of 7 years of work experience in science, technology, engineering, math OR advanced degree in science, technology, engineering, or math, with 5 years of technical experience and 5 years of demonstrated managerial experience

  • Demonstrate strong skills and deep technical expertise across complex software ecosystems, particularly IoT ecosystems
  • Demonstrated Embedded Design and regulatory experience, especially post-market/released medical device software
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to influence embedded practices and organizational processes with all levels of R&D.
  • Experience working with common tools such as Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines and microservices architecture.
  • Energetic communication, leadership, documentation, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the IoT Services organization.
  • Influences direct reports to focus on technical leadership, knowledge transfer, and career growth.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to analyze flow metrics, fostering a culture of software engineering excellence and continuous improvement while effectively managing cost, scope, and schedule commitments.
  • Sets team and individual goals that align with key business outcomes.
  • Monitors progress and provide quarterly performance feedback to direct reports.
  • Develop, evaluate, monitor and maintain design control systems that establish processes and best practices, considering both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Escalates issues following established governance practices as appropriate.
  • Develop strategic staffing plans to ensure organizational scalability and operational continuity that support organizational objectives.
