About The Position

Raytheon is seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer with embedded development experience to join their Space and RF Sensors team in El Segundo, CA. This role involves working with cutting-edge technology on programs that safeguard lives. The engineer will be responsible for some or all of a software product, contributing as a team member and potentially leading a small team. Responsibilities cover the full lifecycle of product development, from architecture and design through integration, testing, and field support. Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of relevant software experience.
  • Experience in programming languages such as C++, Java, Python or similar.
  • Experience across SDLC including software integration & testing, and debugging tools.
  • Experience using version control tools like Git.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance as and when required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Proven self-motivated problem solver who can look at a situation, identify gaps or issues, and take initiative to resolve them (technically, with process, and with documentation)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles and practices.
  • Proficiency with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum, Continuous Integration and Test-Driven Development Methodologies
  • Experience developing on Red Hat Linux or equivalent OS
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and secure software development methodologies
  • Experience leveraging Generative AI and Machine Learning to improve productivity, collaboration, and performance
  • Experience with gRPC and Protobufs
  • Experience with Linux, VxWorks, INTEGRITY, or other RTOS
  • Familiarity with Open Systems Architectures and modular design principles.
  • Domain knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Radars, EO/IR, EW, Network Communications, Datalinks, Platform Integration, Weapons/Effects (Missiles, Projectiles), Command & Control for Fire Control and Surveillance applications, Multi-Domain Airborne Sensor Fusion and Tracking experience
