About The Position

Valeris is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its product API development team and advance its platforms and APIs. The role focuses on backend application development, particularly client-facing REST APIs, and reports to the Director of Software Engineering. The engineer will develop and maintain APIs, platforms, and frameworks; support production solutions; collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, and external client technical teams; and assist with cloud migration and code releases. The role also involves applying AI tools to software engineering work, creating technical documentation, participating in proof-of-concept initiatives, and contributing to code quality and delivery.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of software development experience in a professional business environment.
• Extensive experience developing enterprise-level APIs using the .NET (Core) framework and C#.
• Strong relational database experience; SQL Server is preferred.
• Ability to break complex requirements into actionable work items and unit-testable code.
• Understanding and application of techniques to prevent and address security vulnerabilities.
• Ability to apply advanced architectural patterns and recognize recurring situations where patterns should be used.
• Ability to learn and implement commercial off-the-shelf products where needed.
• Ability to develop software solutions that satisfy business use cases and specified requirements.
• Ability to document and demonstrate solutions using documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
• Ability to participate in and provide in-depth code reviews to ensure code quality and sound solution approaches.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and Codex to accelerate software engineering, architecture, testing, and delivery.
• Develop client-facing REST APIs as products.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for internal and external audiences.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and support production APIs and solutions.
• Work with the team Product Owner and stakeholders to develop custom solutions within the standard platform.
• Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives.
• Build and maintain core platforms and frameworks.
• Collaborate with external client technical teams to support onboarding and use of Valeris products.
• Communicate with stakeholders during sprint reviews and demos.
• Assist with migrating on-premise platforms to a cloud environment.
• Assist with code releases.
• Follow Valeris’ values, corporate policies and procedures, training deadlines, and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned or directed by the manager.
