About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer (EIP) will serve as a technical expert building high-speed, real-time cloud integration pipelines and Java microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role supports McLane’s “Integration Factory,” connecting core databases with supply chain platforms such as Manhattan Active and o9 Solutions, as well as the Cloud Data Lakehouse. The engineer will develop Java and Spring Boot microservices on Cloud Run and GKE, manage event streaming through Pub/Sub and Kafka, and govern APIs and schemas. The role requires extensive backend engineering experience and expertise in GCP, Java, and event-driven architecture.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of backend software engineering experience, with a strong focus on enterprise integration and event-driven architecture.
  • Expertise in Java (11/17/21) and Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on GCP experience, including Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, GCS, and Secret Manager.
  • Experience with GCP Pub/Sub or Apache Kafka, deep SQL, and CDC tools such as Datastream, Debezium, or GoldenGate.
  • Experience with data contract formats such as Avro, Protobuf, or JSON Schema.
  • Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • GCP certification such as Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Developer, or Professional Data Engineer.
  • Experience with Quarkus, Apigee X, or Terraform.
  • Background in supply chain, wholesale distribution, or logistics.
  • Prior integration experience with Manhattan Active WMS, o9 Solutions, Oracle EBS, or Syndigo.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, code, and deploy fast, resilient Java (17/21) and Spring Boot microservices on Google Cloud Run and GKE.
  • Design event-driven streaming pipelines using GCP Pub/Sub, Apache Kafka, and Change Data Capture (CDC/Datastream) to move database changes in real time.
  • Design REST APIs using Apigee X and enforce data contracts using Avro, Protobuf, or JSON Schema.
  • Conduct code reviews for internal teams and vendors.
  • Establish integration templates and maintain high testing standards, including TDD.
  • Set up monitoring and tracing.
  • Build real-time cloud data pipelines and microservices on GCP connecting core business systems, including supply chain, warehouse management, and the Data Lakehouse.
