Senior Software Engineer, Identity

Attentive
•$170,000 - $205,000•Remote

About The Position

The Identity team owns Attentive’s first-party data collection platform, which captures ecommerce and user behavior events from customer storefronts. The platform includes a JavaScript tag embedded on thousands of sites, Cloudflare Workers for server-side tracking and edge compute, and backend ingestion services. The team is also using AI to improve the quality and volume of data collected, aiming for first-party data collection that can assess its own performance, identify improvements, and implement them. This is a high-autonomy role on a small team of 3–4 engineers, with broad ownership across browser-side code, edge runtimes, and backend services. The position is remote and based in the United States.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience working across multiple layers of a system.
  • Backend experience building and operating services in Java, Kotlin, or a similar typed language, including API design, data modeling, and testing.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, including browser runtime behavior, asynchronous patterns, and production performance.
  • Experience with edge compute or serverless runtimes such as Cloudflare Workers, Lambda@Edge, or Fastly, or ability to ramp quickly.
  • Experience leading projects from scoping through delivery.
  • Strong debugging skills across service boundaries and ability to design systems that make issues visible.
  • Active use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex to build and ship production features.
  • Willingness to work across unfamiliar parts of the stack.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-stack data collection across the JavaScript tag, Cloudflare Workers, and Java backend services.
  • Extend Cloudflare Workers infrastructure into tag serving, A/B configuration, and compute for agentic systems and data analysis.
  • Build agentic AI workflows that diagnose and address customer-specific data collection gaps, reducing manual engineering work.
  • Improve the event ingestion pipeline by strengthening event receiving, validation, and routing services, and making the pipeline more reliable and observable.
  • Help lead technical direction by writing proposals, running design reviews, and mentoring teammates.

Benefits

  • Competitive perks and benefits, including health and wellness benefits and equity.
