About The Position

Veeam is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Performance Engineering team for Data Connectors & High-Scale Ingestion. The role owns the throughput, latency, scalability, and resource efficiency of multi-source ingestion pipelines moving data from SaaS, cloud, and on-premises sources into the platform at very large scale. The engineer will develop performance tests and realistic datasets, build bottleneck-analysis tooling, and deliver product fixes and features that improve scalability. The role also owns customer-reported performance issues from root cause through resolution, working in partnership with Support and Engineering.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience developing enterprise solutions in a high-level programming language such as Go, C++, or Java.
  • Experience with distributed-systems concepts and client-server architectures.
  • Expertise developing, testing, and debugging production-quality, scalable, multithreaded, and concurrent systems.
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure, including diagnosing resource, scheduling, networking, and API-limit issues in running workloads.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building data connectors or ingestion pipelines using REST, gRPC, CDC, Kafka, or similar technologies.
  • Experience profiling and tuning production services for CPU, memory, or lock contention, including use of eBPF-based or continuous profiling tools.
  • Experience with databases and/or storage systems, especially in the public cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Design and run performance and scalability tests for connectors and ingestion pipelines, covering throughput, latency, concurrency, and soak testing.
  • Build dataset generators that reproduce realistic source data shapes, object counts, payload sizes, and change rates.
  • Debug the full stack, including Go runtime, operating systems, networks, datastores, Kubernetes, and cloud environments, to identify bottlenecks and regressions.
  • Analyze production workloads and telemetry in Prometheus and Kibana, and create proofs of concept that lead to product improvements.
  • Build bottleneck-analysis tooling, including automated pprof and trace capture and run-to-run regression comparison.
  • Fix performance issues and implement product features such as parallelism, pipelining, batching, back-pressure handling, and connection and memory reuse.
  • Tune PostgreSQL, Redis, and Databricks usage on the ingestion path.
  • Optimize resource usage and autoscaling of ingestion workloads on Kubernetes across AWS and Azure.
  • Own customer-reported performance issues through root cause and resolution in partnership with Support and Engineering.
  • Participate in design and code reviews to help ensure new features are performant by design.
  • Document sizing guidance and best practices.

Benefits

  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • 12 paid holidays, including 4 global VeeaMe Days for self-care.
  • 24 paid volunteer hours annually through Veeam Cares.
  • Paid parental leave: 8 weeks for all parents and 16 weeks for birthing parents.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting on the first day.
  • Mental health support, therapy sessions, and digital wellness tools through the Employee Assistance Program.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions.
  • Fertility, adoption, and surrogacy support through Maven.
  • 24/7 virtual veterinary care through AirVet at no cost.
  • Legal services, identity protection, and supplemental health insurance options.
  • Tax-advantaged spending accounts for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting.
  • Learning and growth opportunities through on-demand libraries, mentoring, workshops, and learning events.
  • Performance-based bonus as part of the stated total target compensation.
