About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer is a key contributor to developing applications for Opus IVS products. Working closely with a skilled team, the engineer designs, maintains, and enhances solutions across desktop, web, and service-oriented platforms. The role supports code quality through reviews and comprehensive unit tests, provides effort estimations, and contributes to multiple projects simultaneously. Clear communication and documentation support collaboration and software development initiatives.

The role uses Python, Django or Flask, and PostgreSQL, and operates within a SCRUM Agile software development lifecycle using JIRA and Confluence. Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining documentation, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of seven years of successful professional experience.
• Strong experience and knowledge in Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and object-oriented design principles.
• Proficiency with Python IDEs and current coding standards and best practices.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs with Django.
• Demonstrable understanding of Pythonic object-oriented programming and software architecture.
• Ability to understand and respond to customer needs with professionalism and care.
• Ability to generate and apply creative ideas that improve work processes or add value.
• Ability to build cooperative relationships and contribute to group success.
• Ability to maintain a strong focus on goals and deliver impactful results.
• Ability to understand and use tools, systems, or technologies relevant to the role.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with web service deployment, hosting, and cloud-connected architectures such as IIS, Azure, or AWS.
• Familiarity with web technologies such as React, JavaScript, TypeScript, or front-end frameworks in a single-page application context.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and continue to develop applications using Python, Django/Flask, and PostgreSQL.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and promote team unity.
• Produce unit tests for existing and new code implementations.
• Provide detailed effort estimations when necessary.
• Work in a team environment using a SCRUM Agile SDLC and JIRA/Confluence tooling.
• Participate in an agile development methodology to support many projects and teams simultaneously.
• Create and maintain documentation for existing and new implementations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
