Senior Software Engineer, Datacenter Modeling

NVIDIA•Boulder, CO
•$184,000 - $356,500

About The Position

NVIDIA is hiring a Senior Engineer to design and build robust software for accelerated computing systems. The role involves solving challenging technical problems, contributing to architecture decisions, improving engineering practices, and collaborating with partners across NVIDIA. The successful candidate identifies meaningful opportunities, applies analytical rigor, and delivers results in a fast-paced environment. The engineer will develop software that combines hardware, software, workload, and deployment assumptions to evaluate data-center-level power, total cost of ownership (TCO), and performance trade-offs. The role also contributes to design decisions through prototyping and stakeholder feedback, strengthens software quality and operational practices, coordinates interfaces across teams, resolves complex technical issues, and supports reviews and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in Python or other modern programming languages.
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical software systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work effectively in a dynamic environment, and apply new technologies and approaches.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

  • MS or PhD.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguous problem spaces, learning from source code and primary papers, prototyping quickly, and adapting based on evidence.
  • Background in performance analysis, executive dashboards, or quantitative modeling for accelerated systems.
  • Experience working close to hardware or at large scale.
  • Track record of turning real-world inputs into structured, reliable software.
  • Experience helping teammates learn and adopt new technologies while continuing to deliver.
  • Good judgment about systems build and openness to revising views as new information emerges.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain software systems that combine hardware, software, workload, and deployment assumptions to evaluate data-center-level power, TCO, and performance trade-offs.
  • Contribute to software design decisions by prototyping and evaluating solutions and incorporating stakeholder feedback.
  • Strengthen engineering quality through effective testing, regression coverage, and operational practices.
  • Collaborate across teams to define clear interfaces and enable efficient development.
  • Make hands-on contributions to complex technical problems and help diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Participate in building and code reviews, share knowledge, and help teammates adopt effective software and engineering practices.
