You’ll make things happen–fast. What You'll do: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services and APIs. Build production-ready systems with a focus on performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Own backend features and projects end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvements. Work with distributed systems and event-driven architectures, including messaging and asynchronous data flows. Design and implement APIs and services that integrate with other internal and external systems. Work with large and complex data flows and understand how data moves through backend systems. Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve services running in production. Participate in system design and architecture discussions and help make sound technical decisions. Collaborate with frontend engineers, Product, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver complete solutions. Investigate complex production issues and identify root causes rather than only addressing symptoms. Improve existing systems and proactively identify opportunities to increase reliability, performance, and engineering efficiency. Provide technical guidance to other engineers and contribute to engineering best practices. What Success Looks Like Owns backend systems and features from initial design through production. Understands how services actually run, communicate, scale, fail, and recover in production. Can independently investigate and resolve complex backend and production issues. Builds systems that are reliable, maintainable, observable, and scalable. Makes thoughtful technical and architectural decisions. Proactively identifies problems and improvements rather than waiting for requirements. Acts as a technical owner and contributes to the growth and effectiveness of the engineering team.

Requirements

6-7 years of professional experience in backend software engineering and building production systems.
Strong experience with Node.js or a similar backend technology.
Deep understanding of backend development principles, APIs, services, databases, and distributed systems.
Hands-on experience building and operating production applications, including debugging and troubleshooting real-world issues.
Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies, particularly Kafka.
Experience designing and working with GraphQL APIs.
Experience with cloud infrastructure and services; GCP experience is preferred.
Strong understanding of scalability, performance, reliability, observability, and system design.
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex projects and drive them from design through production.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate complex technical issues independently.
Ability to work effectively with other engineers and cross-functional teams.
Strong communication skills and ability to make and explain technical decisions

Nice To Haves

Experience with NestJS.
Strong experience with GCP and cloud-native services.
Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
Experience with CI/CD and production deployment pipelines.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
Experience with high-scale or distributed systems.
Experience with Angular or other frontend technologies is a plus.
Experience working across the full stack is a plus.
