Senior Software Engineer, Autonomous Revenue Operations

Commure•Mountain View, CA
•$180,000 - $230,000

About The Position

Commure’s Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Core team is building the autonomous backend that transforms manual healthcare financial workflows into intelligent systems. The Autonomous Revenue Operations team develops AI and rules infrastructure to fix claims autonomously, replacing repetitive work such as reviewing denials, correcting claims, resubmitting them, and appealing decisions with auditable automated workflows. The Senior Software Engineer will build LLM-powered claim automation, safety guardrails, scalable rule-engine infrastructure, and observability for automated revenue operations. The role also includes generating appeal materials, delivering a unified automation console, shaping the technical direction of the RCM platform, and developing end-to-end products and integrations. The engineer will work across product, engineering, and healthcare teams, contribute to architecture and code quality, and mentor other engineers. Employees must follow the organization’s information security policies, protect organizational assets, report confirmed or potential security events and risks, and attest to these requirements upon hire and annually.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional software development industry experience.
  • Proficiency with frontend languages and technologies such as TypeScript and React.
  • Proficiency with backend languages such as Python or Go.
  • Experience with Git, GCP or AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, relational and non-relational databases, and monitoring or alerting tools.
  • A proven track record of designing and implementing end-to-end solutions and making successful architectural decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build LLM-powered automation to determine how to fix denied claims, supported by rigorous evaluations, dry runs, and audit trails for autonomous operation.
  • Design safety guardrails for automation, including identity checks, payer-type rules, duplicate prevention, and dry-run or QA gates before production actions.
  • Scale a configurable rule engine that executes customer-specific conditions and actions across high transaction volumes, with safety, idempotency, and explainability.
  • Build observability dashboards for automated resubmission approval rates, denial-to-resubmission cycle times, and failure rates by insurance type, denial category, and site.
  • Automatically generate appeal letters and medical-record packets, with validation scoring to determine what can be sent unattended.
  • Deliver a unified automations console for operations teams to view and manage billing rules, pre-submission validation, adjustments, and other rule engines.
  • Propose and implement improvements to the RCM platform’s architecture, tools, and technologies.
  • Build end-to-end products to improve revenue cycle management for providers and administrators.
  • Own integration workflows from design and development through deployment and post-launch monitoring.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and healthcare teams to gather integration requirements, define technical approaches, and prioritize work based on business needs.
  • Mentor and guide engineers while fostering technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Conduct code reviews, uphold best practices, and drive architectural improvements across the stack.
  • Comply with information security policies, protect organizational assets, report security events or risks, and complete required security attestations.
