About The Position

Hiring multiple Senior Backend Engineers for a fast-growing New York marketplace business entering a major new phase of product and platform growth. The company already works with 2,700+ hotel partners and is expanding aggressively across wellness, spa, distribution partnerships and new consumer experiences. A major focus now is the backend infrastructure behind the marketplace, including APIs that allow external partners to access, price and sell live inventory. This is not a role where they care about whether you have spent the last five years using one specific language. They want genuinely strong engineers who can think at system level, communicate well and solve difficult production problems. You’ll be working across: Complex backend and distributed systems Transactional workflows where correctness matters External APIs and partner integrations Relational data modelling High-scale marketplace infrastructure Reliability, performance and observability Architecture and technical decision-making AI-assisted software development Experience with payments, bookings, reservations, orders, inventory, pricing or other transactional systems is highly relevant, but not essential. They are very open to engineers coming from strong product and engineering organisations where you have had meaningful ownership. The core environment includes Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Postgres, AWS, Redis, Kafka, Datadog and OpenSearch, but you absolutely do not need to be a Ruby engineer. They care much more about what you have built, what decisions you owned and how you think. This is a strong opportunity for someone coming from a larger engineering organisation who wants considerably more ownership, or a startup engineer who has already built serious production systems and wants to work at much greater scale.
