Senior Software Engineer
About The Position
Complete and oversee basic to complex systems analysis, design, and development. Play a key role as an individual contributor on complex projects. Maintain an excellent functional understanding of the supported application(s). Direct and monitor less experienced resources and coordinate development tasks on small to large scope projects. Assist with preparing and managing the technical component of project plans. Participate with other Development, Operations, and Technology staff in overall systems development direction from technical analysis to user acceptance testing. Prepare and review test data and execute detailed test plans. Complete any required debugging. Evaluate complex interrelationships and effects among programs, interfacing applications, and platforms. Provide highly analytical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies to assist business units in meeting strategic objectives. Prepare thorough, clear technical and functional specifications and update systems documentation. Prepare charts, tables, and diagrams to assist in analyzing problems. Review documentation prepared by less experienced staff. Maintain efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications. Recommend new technology, policies, or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Participate in technical evaluations of vendor software. Adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field plus four (4) years of experience in the job offered or as Systems Analyst, Software/Application Developer, Java Developer, System Engineer, or related occupation.
- Three (3) years of experience with Developing RESTful APIs and web services
- Three (3) years of experience with Utilizing Java, including Java 8+ features such as Streams and Lambda expressions
- Three (3) years of experience with Utilizing Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Boot, and Maven
- Three (3) years of experience with Applying Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
- Three (3) years of experience with Implementing robust exception handling in Java applications
- Two (2) years of experience with API integration using SOAP Web Services, JSON, and XML
- Two (2) years of experience with Unit testing using JUnit
- Two (2) years of experience with API testing using Postman, or ReadyAPI
- Two (2) years of experience with Version control using Git or GitLab
- Two (2) years of experience with Building CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or Jenkins
- Two (2) years of experience with Designing and optimizing SQL queries and working with relational databases (including MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL)
- Two (2) years of experience with Working with Docker containers and containerized deployments
- Two (2) years of experience with Using logging and monitoring tools including Splunk, Kibana, or Dynatrace
- Two (2) years of experience with Working within Agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban
