Senior Software Engineer

DigiCert
•$115,000 - $160,000

About The Position

This position is for the SSL Store, powered by DigiCert. The Senior Software Engineer will build and operate the platform behind certificate management, TLS and vulnerability monitoring, uptime, and security products. The platform uses a TypeScript monorepo with Fastify and Express services, Next.js and React frontends, MySQL and Redis, queues and workers on AWS, and Kubernetes deployments managed through Terraform, Helm, and Azure DevOps pipelines. It also includes legacy .NET components that are being retired incrementally, along with AI-assisted features and internal tooling. The engineer owns features end to end, from database schema and API development through user interface, deployment pipeline, and production operations. The role is on a small team with broad responsibilities and requires adapting to different frameworks, integrations, and cloud technologies as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience building and operating production web services and their frontends.
  • Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills, including experience with a modern API framework; Fastify is preferred and Express is acceptable.
  • Experience with a React framework; Next.js is preferred.
  • Production experience in more than one language or ecosystem, including at least one stack change driven or adapted to in recent years.
  • Relational database skills with MySQL or Postgres, including schema design, migrations, indexing, query performance, and transaction and locking behavior.
  • Ability to own shipped software, including logging, metrics, alerting, and evidence-led production debugging.
  • Security awareness, including authentication and authorization flows, secrets handling, input validation, and dependency hygiene.
  • Clear written communication and ability to explain designs, trade-offs, and incidents to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on AWS experience with compute, queues, storage, and secrets, and ability to read and modify Terraform.
  • Working knowledge of containers and Kubernetes, including writing Dockerfiles, reading Helm charts, and debugging failing pods.
  • CI/CD pipeline experience with Azure DevOps or similar, plus Cloudflare or AWS WAF experience.
  • Experience with Grafana, Sentry, or equivalent observability tooling beyond basic dashboards.
  • Experience with PKI, TLS, or certificate lifecycle management, or with monitoring and scanning products such as uptime, vulnerability, DNS, or email security.
  • OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect implementation experience, especially with multi-tenant identity providers.
  • C# and .NET experience sufficient to read, maintain, and migrate legacy services.
  • Python experience for data pipelines, scanners, or tooling.
  • Experience with large-scale scanning or crawling systems, including worker fleets, rate limits, timeouts, and cost considerations.
  • Experience building with LLM APIs, MCP servers, or agentic workflows in a product context.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship full-stack features across APIs, frontends, database schemas and migrations, SQS-driven workers, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Own services in production, including observability, on-call participation, incident root-cause analysis, and follow-up fixes.
  • Build and evolve security and monitoring products that scan, probe, and score customer infrastructure at scale while meeting correctness and performance requirements.
  • Maintain and incrementally retire legacy .NET and Python components, moving behavior into the TypeScript platform and verifying parity.
  • Extend CI/CD and infrastructure, including Azure DevOps pipelines, Docker images, Helm charts, and Terraform for EKS, RDS, SQS, and related AWS services.
  • Integrate third-party and partner APIs, including certificate authorities, scanners, and identity providers, and maintain resilient integrations.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools in daily work and build AI-backed features where they improve the product.
  • Review code, write tests, and uphold standards for both human- and AI-generated code.
  • Mentor other engineers and document decisions so others can act on them independently.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings programs with company matching (401(k) or RRSP).
  • Generous paid time off, including holidays and vacation.
  • Paid parental leave and family support benefits.
  • Life and disability coverage.
  • Flexible spending and health savings options where applicable.
  • Health and wellness support, including gym reimbursement and wellness programs.
  • Employee Assistance Program with 24/7 confidential support for employees and families.
  • Education assistance and professional development opportunities.
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning and continuous learning resources.
  • Employee referral bonus program and additional company perks and discounts.
  • Internal rewards and recognition platform (Motivosity).
