About The Position

Phaidra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Connectivity team. The role leads how the product connects to customer telemetry, alarms, and internal systems in AI data centers. The engineer works directly with customer technical teams to understand their environments and security needs, design secure and reliable integrations, and turn customer-specific work into reusable product capabilities. The role partners with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams, leads technical efforts, and helps raise engineering standards across the organization. Phaidra builds AI agents that help data center operators understand infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and optimize facility operations. The company connects data across IT and OT systems to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency. Phaidra is headquartered in the USA and operates as a fully remote company with no physical office, hiring internationally with support from OysterHR. The team is distributed across the USA, Canada, the UK, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, and India. The position involves owning connectivity projects from design through production and ongoing maintenance; building dependable integrations across varied customer environments; turning individual integrations into documented, scalable product capabilities; and contributing to system design, technical decisions, cross-team coordination, mentoring, and operational excellence. The engineer will work with customer teams, participate in on-call operations, and use AI-assisted development tools to support delivery. Phaidra’s stack includes Python, Go, C#/.NET, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kapitan, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Atlantis, GCP services, REST and gRPC microservices, and Claude Code/VS Code. The role is remote, with candidates based in the US or Canada requested for this posting and a preference for the Pacific time zone. The position is eligible for equity, and the posted base salary ranges vary by country and location tier. The role remains open until filled.

  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and principles, including HTTPS, TLS, and MQTT.
  • Solid understanding of network architecture and security fundamentals, at least at a university level.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems, including distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and data modeling at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects requiring coordination across multiple teams.
  • Strong debugging skills and a pragmatic approach to reliability and performance.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working directly with external customers or partners in a technical capacity.
  • Willingness to work with internal and external customers to develop solutions within the product.

  • Experience building multi-tenant systems with high availability, fault tolerance, and performance tuning.
  • A self-starter mindset and a bias toward jumping in and building.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and lead connectivity engineering projects from design through production, owning and maintaining shipped work.
  • Work directly with customer technical teams to understand networks, systems, and security requirements and identify appropriate ways to connect data to the product.
  • Design and build secure, reliable integrations that ingest telemetry, alarms, and system data across varied customer environments.
  • Convert one-off customer integrations into reusable, well-documented product capabilities that scale across deployments.
  • Own and review project briefs and technical designs for complex features and systems, driving technical decisions and cross-team alignment.
  • Coordinate across teams and ensure team work fits into and improves broader systems.
  • Write clean, well-tested code with clear, extensible interfaces while avoiding unnecessary technical debt.
  • Identify friction and drive improvements to software design, development, testing, and operations.
  • Evaluate technologies and tradeoffs systematically and holistically, expanding the team’s understanding of the technology stack to meet changing requirements.
  • Mentor engineers across teams through pairing, reviews, and thoughtful feedback.
  • Collaborate with product, design, customer engineering, and other teams to identify technical blindspots, clarify ambiguity, and deliver iteratively.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and establish effective practices for their use.
  • Lead operational excellence for team products, including reliability and performance through on-call ownership, tooling, documentation, and CI/CD practices.
