Position Summary Do you enjoy building software that interacts with real-world hardware? Are you energized by creating tools that automate complex engineering tasks, accelerate data collection, and enable engineers to solve difficult technical problems more efficiently? We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to serve as a technical leader within our Engineering Automation team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of software platforms that automate complex measurement systems, accelerate characterization of advanced semiconductor technologies, and improve engineering productivity across the organization. You will work closely with RF, microwave, product, test, and applications engineers to define automation strategies, architect scalable software solutions, and drive development of next-generation measurement and data-analysis platforms. Successful candidates combine strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to understand complex engineering workflows and translate them into robust, maintainable automation systems. Your work will directly impact product development, customer support, and engineering productivity across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Typically 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience leading technical projects and architectural decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript development.
  • Experience architecting and delivering production software systems.
  • Experience leading software projects from requirements definition and architecture through implementation, validation, deployment, and support.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience working directly with technical stakeholders to define requirements and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing automated test and measurement systems.
  • Experience controlling laboratory instrumentation using VISA, SCPI, IVI, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with data-analysis platforms supporting scientific or engineering workflows.
  • Experience designing software used by hardware, RF, or manufacturing engineers.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or serving as technical lead for project teams.
  • Familiarity with RF, microwave, semiconductor, or scientific instrumentation environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and lifecycle management of software platforms supporting engineering characterization, laboratory automation, technical data analysis, validation, and measurement-system integration.
  • Define scalable software architecture for major automation, data-management, and engineering-analysis platforms.
  • Lead technical planning and execution for complex, multidisciplinary engineering automation projects.
  • Gather requirements, establish technical priorities, and translate engineering needs into practical implementation plans and software roadmaps.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, development methodologies, and integration approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity, measurement repeatability, data integrity, and workflow efficiency through automation.
  • Serve as a technical liaison among software developers, RF engineers, product engineers, test engineers, applications engineers, and laboratory personnel.
  • Mentor software engineers through code reviews, design reviews, technical coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Drive improvements in software quality, maintainability, documentation, test coverage, deployment, and long-term supportability.
  • Design and maintain instrument-control software for laboratory equipment, including network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, switch matrices, probe stations, and related test systems.
  • Develop graphical user interfaces, dashboards, visualization tools, and data-analysis capabilities that improve access to engineering information.
  • Create software that enables the collection, management, analysis, and reporting of large-scale engineering characterization datasets.
  • Integrate new instrumentation, measurement techniques, and automation capabilities into existing software platforms.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex software, instrumentation, data-integrity, and system-integration issues.
  • Communicate new capabilities through documentation, demonstrations, and technical training.
