About The Position

Stack is developing AI and autonomous systems to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency in the trucking industry. The Senior Software Engineer will work on online and offline mapping algorithms and systems for Level 4 self-driving vehicles, develop machine learning and deep learning algorithms, and contribute to the technical direction of the team and broader perception organization. The role involves building robust software for real-time, resource-constrained, safety-critical applications and delivering cross-functional features from problem definition through delivery. The engineer will also identify limitations in the existing online mapping system and drive improvements. Telecommuting is permissible from any location within the United States. The employee must live within reasonable commuting distance of headquarters and appear in the office as required. Domestic travel may be required up to 25%. The position is based at 1001 Technology Drive, Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and two years of experience in the job offered or a related position; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field followed by four years of experience. The employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
  • Experience architecting, training, and deploying deep learning models, such as convolutional neural networks or transformer-based models, for real-world use cases.
  • Experience training perception models, such as object detection and semantic segmentation models, using camera and lidar data for autonomous driving and/or real-time robotic applications.
  • Experience optimizing machine learning or deep learning models for onboard deployment using techniques such as quantization, TensorRT, C++ programming, or similar methods.
  • Experience training and deploying machine learning and deep learning models using PyTorch and Python.
  • A track record of driving applied research projects from conception and problem definition through experimentation, iteration, and publication or productization.
  • Experience applying software engineering and machine learning algorithm design to develop real-world products.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver online and offline mapping algorithms and systems for Level 4 self-driving vehicles.
  • Design, develop, and implement machine learning and deep learning algorithms.
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the team and the broader perception organization.
  • Write robust software for real-time, resource-constrained, safety-critical applications.
  • Contribute to cross-functional features and workstreams from problem statement through delivery.
  • Identify limitations in the existing online mapping system and drive improvements.
