About The Position

Berry Street is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for a founding-caliber role building AI-native infrastructure and consumer healthcare experiences. The engineer will work directly with the founder and leadership team and help shape how the platform scales from hundreds of thousands of patients to millions. AI is central to the company’s internal operations and external products, and the work will affect patients and providers soon after it ships. The role focuses on building AI-native systems, reliable clinical AI infrastructure, and provider- and patient-facing features. The engineer will contribute to technical direction, own work end-to-end, improve engineering quality and practices, and work directly with patients and providers to understand their needs. The position is in-office at Madison Square Park.

Requirements

At least 5 years of engineering experience.
Experience building and maintaining production systems at scale and making architectural decisions.
Experience shipping AI-driven systems or products, with informed views on the direction of the field.
Product mindset: prioritize users, question unclear or unsuitable specifications, and understand the reasons behind product decisions.
Full-stack experience, with stronger skills on the platform and API side.
Familiarity with React, Next.js, NestJS, TypeORM, PostgreSQL, AWS, TailwindCSS, and TypeScript.
Ability to take projects from ambiguous ideas through delivery independently, identify problems early, drive decisions, and follow through.
Ability to move quickly while distinguishing speed from cutting corners.

Responsibilities

Architect and ship AI-native systems, including autonomous clinical agents, LLM-powered workflows, and tools for dietitians and GLP-1 care.
Build infrastructure for reliable clinical AI, including evaluation pipelines, guardrails, and feedback loops.
Set technical direction and make architectural decisions for the platform as it scales.
Own features end-to-end across provider- and patient-facing products, from scoping and architecture through production.
Improve code quality, tooling, and engineering practices to increase the effectiveness of the team.
Work directly with patients and providers to understand their needs and translate them into systems that scale.
