The Senior Software Engineer will build platforms, tooling, and automation that help engineering teams address security, compliance, and sovereign cloud readiness challenges earlier and at Microsoft scale. The role uses an AI-first engineering mindset, including agentic workflows, reusable skills, data, and automation, to improve how engineering work gets done. The team builds and uses its own platform to solve real problems and continuously improve the developer experience. This position is suited to an engineer who enjoys large-scale technical challenges, navigating ambiguity, building cross-organizational partnerships, and creating platforms that multiply other engineers’ impact. The role contributes to architecture and technical strategy while remaining hands-on in implementation and operation, and helps foster learning, experimentation, and shared ownership. The position requires passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year. For specific work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area, the range is USD $160,200–$261,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled, and the posting will remain open for at least five days.
