Senior Software Engineer
About The Position
ResMed Digital Health Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the delivery of technically complex customer-facing products utilizing cloud technology. This role involves designing, developing, implementing, and deploying customized web and mobile applications, web services, and enterprise solutions. The engineer will build reliable and scalable web and mobile applications, define system architectures, explore technical feasibility tradeoffs, and develop cloud software services with an understanding of design for scalability, performance, and reliability. The position requires daily collaboration with a small team of software developers, assisting with project estimation, planning, progress and bug tracking, creating task breakdowns from user stories, writing clear and commented code, creating and reviewing design specifications, writing automated unit tests, and following secure development guidelines. The position is 100% remote and reports to San Diego, CA.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field of study and 8 years of progressive experience in Software Engineering.
- 8 years of experience working in Java or equivalent, including Java backend server technology including master-slave configuration, REST APIs, and Android platform.
- 8 years of experience in design and development of multi-tiered business applications.
- 8 years of experience working with relational databases (such as SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL).
- Defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs.
- Developing cloud software services and designing for scalability, performance and reliability.
- Working in serverless architecture (AWS Lambda) or container-based architecture (Docker).
- Building and maintaining complex software that is secure and scalable to millions of users.
- Object-oriented design and programming.
- Working with and mitigating the challenges in performance, scaling, throughput and consistency associated with high availability, 24×7 applications and services.
- Working within an Agile software development process.
- Git.
- Message brokering architectures (pub/sub queues, and request/response) and data streaming.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to delivery of technically complex customer facing products involving usage of cloud technology.
- Design, develop, implement, and deploy customized web and mobile applications, web services, and enterprise solutions using various web development technologies and platforms.
- Build best-in-class, web and mobile based applications that are reliable and scalable.
- Define system architectures and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs.
- Develop cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability.
- Collaborate day to day with small team of software developers.
- Assist with project estimation, planning, progress and bug tracking.
- Create task breakdown based on supplied user stories.
- Write clear, well-commented, easy to understand code.
- Create and review design specifications.
- Write automated unit tests.
- Follow secure development guidelines.
