About The Position

We are seeking a highly analytical and data-focused Senior Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in an upcoming platform migration. This high-impact, data-intensive role requires deep expertise in relational databases, complex data transformation, and meticulous data validation. The engineer will work extensively with large datasets, including Index Histories, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency as the technology stack is modernized. Prior financial index knowledge is a bonus; the ability to reverse-engineer legacy systems, map complex data models, and build robust migration solutions is essential.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, application development, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, data analysis, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience working with large, data-intensive, complex datasets.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, including independently investigating unfamiliar systems, reverse-engineering data models, and designing mapping and transformation strategies.
• Hands-on experience with data migration, transformation, reconciliation, or legacy-to-modern modernization projects.
• Strong focus on data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
• Experience working in an Agile software development lifecycle.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Index Management, financial indices, or broader financial markets.
• Knowledge of index configuration and index lifecycle processes.
• Experience with C# / .NET and familiarity with .NET applications.
• Familiarity with UI technologies such as Angular, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Python, or Java/Spring Boot.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the end-to-end migration of index configurations and historical data from legacy platforms to the current BAU platform.
• Analyze existing index configurations and data structures to understand their mechanics and define the optimal migration strategy.
• Translate and convert configurations across different data models while maintaining business requirements and data integrity.
• Use Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase to investigate, analyze, transform, validate, and move large-scale datasets, including Index Histories.
• Perform detailed data validation and reconciliation to ensure migrated data is complete, accurate, and consistent; identify data quality issues and root causes, and implement fixes.
• Write efficient, scalable SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformation processes for a production environment.
• Investigate existing applications and legacy systems to understand how data and configurations are processed.
• Work with business analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve migration roadblocks, and communicate technical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to automation, testing, and optimization of migration processes while mentoring and sharing knowledge with fellow engineers.
