About The Position

Automox is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Agent Team to build and evolve its cloud-native endpoint management platform. The platform autonomously manages configuration, security, and patching across Windows, macOS, and Linux devices, including communications with more than 2 million deployed agents. The role owns significant features and services end to end, from technical design through production operation, including the UI that surfaces them. Engineers work autonomously as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team and contribute throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Requirements

Strong experience in Go or Java, with versatility across languages.
At least 5 years of experience designing, developing, testing, and monitoring applications deployed in a high-availability SaaS environment.
Experience as a software engineer on applications with continuous client connectivity.
Secure coding experience, such as experience with OWASP.
Experience building production applications in cloud environments, particularly AWS, with a strong emphasis on security best practices.
Professional experience shipping frontend features in a modern JavaScript framework using TypeScript, and comfort owning the UI portion of a feature built with a backend.
Familiarity with microservice architectures, large-scale event ingestion platforms, scaling WebSockets and real-time messaging systems such as Kafka or MQTT, non-relational databases such as DynamoDB, networking, and DevOps.
Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a tightly knit, cross-functional remote team.
Strong leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring junior engineers.
Ability to collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, Program Managers, and Technical Support.
Ability to pass a federal, state, and county background check and complete a local in-person verification.
Must be able to work without employer-sponsored work visas; Automox is not able to sponsor work visas at this time.

Nice To Haves

Experience building desktop or cross-platform applications.
Experience with software that runs on customer endpoints across macOS, Windows, or Linux, such as agents, installers, or system services.
Experience writing automated end-to-end tests using Python, Playwright, or similar.

Responsibilities

Research, design, develop, and secure solutions that facilitate communications with more than 2 million Automox software agents deployed globally.
Own significant features and services end to end, from technical design through release and operation in production, including the UI that surfaces them.
Champion secure coding and modern software development best practices across engineering.
Extend, enhance, and evolve event-driven services to provide features in the Automox platform and endpoint software.
Contribute to continuous improvement through testing, performance tuning, refactoring, usability improvements, and automation.
Produce detailed specifications and contribute in all phases of the engineering lifecycle.
Apply a quality-first approach to testing.
Partner with Product, Program Management, QE, and Technical Support to turn ambiguous problems into well-scoped, deliverable work.
Make data-driven decisions and understand the impact of development before it reaches production.
Coach and mentor more junior engineers.
