About The Position

Seekr is seeking a Software Engineer to scale and productionize applications in its federal solutions portfolio. The role works alongside AI engineers and software developers on mission-focused problems across commercial cloud, AWS GovCloud, and disconnected environments. The engineer focuses on making applications performant, scalable, secure, and durable, and helps guide them through accreditation so they can be used in real-world mission environments. The role has direct influence over how federal solutions are built, deployed, and accredited across multiple programs. It requires adapting to changing requirements, deployment targets, user feedback, and security controls while maintaining sound engineering practices. The position owns the path from functional prototype to stable, scalable, accredited service and includes technical leadership and mentoring across the federal engineering team.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

  • Hands-on experience with Python, including asynchronous patterns, packaging, and dependency management.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or a comparable relational database management system.
  • Experience with RESTful API design; FastAPI is preferred.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals, including idempotency, retries, eventual consistency, queueing, failure isolation, and graceful degradation.
  • Experience with CI/CD; GitLab CI is preferred.
  • Experience with automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience with observability practices, including structured logging, performance metrics, and tracing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce authorizations.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with AI engineers to ship high-quality, production-ready features.
  • Own the path from functional prototype to stable, scalable, accredited service.
  • Drive technical decision-making and help establish and enforce engineering best practices across the federal engineering team.
  • Design and build systems that treat security controls as a first-class requirement.
  • Build and maintain hardened container images, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment artifacts for cloud and restricted or air-gapped environments.
  • Debug production issues and perform root cause analysis in environments with limited observability and access.
  • Collaborate with Product to scope and decompose requirements into actionable engineering work.
  • Mentor federal team engineers through code review, design review, and pairing.
