About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, designing, and developing computer and network software, or specializing in utility programs. Your duties will include designing, developing, and modifying highly specialized computer applications to drive user efficiency and overall business success, ensuring these applications meet demanding standards for privacy and security. You will create efficient, high-performance enhancements to proprietary applications, address specific customer goals, and quickly design, develop, and implement new technology features, including integration with new technologies. You will ensure compliance with software development life cycle protocols, manage project priorities, and raise any risk factors to the appropriate project management team. Continuous improvement of functionality, reliability, testability, availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency of applications is key. You will adhere to version control, release management, and deployment protocols, and ensure compliance with data accessibility standards for people with disabilities. Facilitating quality assurance protocols, including user acceptance testing, by resolving issues and providing required metrics and data is also part of the role. You will design and develop reporting to summarize and analyze application functionality, ensuring applications meet rigorous technical requirements for performance, resiliency, availability, and scalability. Collaboration with users to build, extend, and enhance applications that accelerate efficiency and innovation is expected, along with providing post-deployment support and quickly responding to and resolving unexpected service problems in production. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the U.S.

Requirements

  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or GitHub
  • Designing and implementing infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Managing cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
  • Automating repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Working closely with Dev, QA, and external teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications
  • Implementing security best practices and ensure the compliance with government clients such as HRSA or CMS
  • Responding to and resolve infrastructure related issues and incidents
  • Maintaining clear and detailed documentation of processes, systems, and configurations
  • Implementing, monitoring, and logging solutions to ensure system health, safety and performance using tools such as Splunk, New Relic, or AWS consoles

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and modify highly specialized computer applications to drive Optum user efficiency and overall business success
  • Ensure applications meet Optum's demanding standards for privacy and security as required by strict internal policies and industry-specific regulations
  • Create efficient, high performance enhancements to proprietary Optum applications, enhancements that address and achieve specific Optum customer goals
  • Quickly and effectively design, develop, and implement new technology features that build on existing functionality, including but not limited to integrating with new technology
  • Ensure compliance with Optum's software development life cycle protocols and ensure project priorities are recorded and satisfied according to those protocols, raising any risk factors to the appropriate Optum project management team
  • Constantly improve functionality, reliability, testability, availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency of Optum applications
  • Adhere to Optum version control, release management, and deployment protocols to distribute new functionality to the user base
  • Satisfy Optum data accessibly standards by ensuring all Optum electronic information and technology is fully usable by people with disabilities
  • Facilitate all Optum quality assurance protocols, including user acceptance testing, by quickly resolving issues and providing all required metrics and data, including issue tracking
  • Design and develop reporting as needed to summarize and analyze Optum application functionality
  • Ensure proprietary applications satisfy Optum's rigorous internally-defined technical requirements for performance, resiliency, availability and scalability
  • Collaborate with Optum solutions users to build, extend, and enhance applications that accelerate efficiency and innovation across the organization
  • Provide post deployment support and to quickly respond to and resolve unexpected service problems in production
