Media Engineering builds the software and systems that prepare media content and metadata for the Disney Streaming platform, ensuring the best possible playback experience for viewers. This involves handling audio, video, and metadata content from ingest through publish, including normalization, processing, and packaging. The team also supports operator tools and automation for a scalable workflow, and builds logic across players and back-end services to measure, control, and optimize playback. Our team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to delivering excellent streaming experiences for Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ by developing our web-based JavaScript player. This role involves playback across various devices including browsers, televisions, gaming consoles, and set-top boxes. The Senior Software Engineer will have the opportunity to lead the design and implementation of our cross-platform JavaScript player. We are looking for an experienced engineer with video player and cross-platform development experience, excellent JavaScript and web development fluency, and a passion for coding and debugging. As a Senior engineer, you will own large features, lead technical direction, and mentor other engineers. You will collaborate closely with other technical teams in the application layer and backend video services.
