About The Position

Robinhood is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to drive engineering work for its international expansion. The International engineering team builds and maintains customer experiences and platform capabilities for onboarding, funding, account setup, localized products, growth incentives, and operations in new jurisdictions. The role combines frontend development with backend distributed systems to deliver localized experiences, including multi-currency funding, international onboarding, and regional trading. It also designs reusable platform abstractions that enable expansion into new markets while maintaining security, availability, and compliance standards. The engineer will lead complex technical designs, deliver international product capabilities, and collaborate with product, design, compliance, legal, marketing, and platform teams. The position is based in the New York City, Toronto, or Menlo Park offices, with in-person attendance expected at least three days per week. The engineer will help ensure reliability, low latency, and fault tolerance, and will participate in production on-call rotations.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production systems across the full stack.
Proficiency with modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript, including performance, accessibility, and state management.
Experience building scalable distributed services in Go or Python.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis, and event-driven architectures such as Kafka.
A proven track record of taking complex features from ambiguity through technical design, phased rollout, production validation, and post-launch maintenance.
Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, service-oriented architectures, and microservice integration patterns.
Clear, structured communication skills, including the ability to articulate trade-offs, drive technical consensus across distributed teams, and align with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain frontend interfaces using React and TypeScript, and scale backend services using Go or Python.
Own technical delivery of international capabilities, including localized onboarding funnels, identity verification (KYC/AML), multi-currency funding rails, and region-specific trading experiences.
Build and optimize localized growth mechanisms, promotion engines, and user acquisition pipelines.
Architect modular, scalable internationalization frameworks and services to support expansion into additional jurisdictions.
Ensure high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance; implement telemetry and automated testing; and participate in production on-call rotations.
Collaborate with Product Management, Product Design, Compliance, Legal, and Platform teams to translate jurisdictional requirements into user-centric technical solutions.
Lead complex technical designs and drive features from ambiguity through phased rollout, production validation, and post-launch maintenance.
