About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer focused on platform development at Tanium, you will build and maintain services that power Tanium products as part of an agile development team. The role uses customer engagement and feedback to guide product design. You will design, develop, test, and deploy new products and supporting services from the ground up, iterating with product management and customers.

This is a hybrid role requiring employees to work in the office at least three days per week at one of the following locations: Bellevue, Washington; Durham, North Carolina; or Emeryville, California.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Seven or more years of industry experience; 10 or more years preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of C++.
• Experience designing and building high-performance, secure, scalable, observable, supportable, and maintainable backend services and APIs.
• Experience with public cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with cryptographic primitives, TLS, and PKI.
• Experience with HTTP API design and development.
• Experience with modern software engineering development and automation tools such as Git, GHA, and Jenkins.
• Demonstrated experience integrating AI tools and technologies into software development, including AI-assisted coding and prompt engineering.
• Sound judgment in balancing rapid development with long-term code maintainability and supportability.
• Effective technical and non-technical communication, both written and oral.
• Belief in and commitment to writing automated tests as part of development.
• Strong debugging skills, including the ability to resolve production issues under pressure.
• Knowledge of modern server-side and browser-side software frameworks, and versatility in learning new tools.
• Attention to detail and passion for creating a strong user experience.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in computer science or a related technical field is preferred.
• Ten or more years of industry experience is preferred.
