About The Position

Essen Health Care is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join its founding engineering team. The engineer will take well-scoped technical work from principal engineers and deliver it end to end, including features, integrations, bug fixes, and infrastructure improvements. The role spans the full stack and offers ownership over the work built. The platform supports clinical workflows and care delivery. Example work includes implementing clinical rules for patient outreach, building AI automations that interact with payor and Medicaid systems, integrating EHRs, using LLMs to provide patient context to care coordinators, and improving API performance, data pipelines, deployment tooling, and test coverage. Day-to-day work involves taking items from a prioritized queue, building and testing them, submitting pull requests, shipping, clarifying technical approaches with principal engineers, and participating in code review. The team is based in the Bronx and works alongside the care coordinators, clinicians, and operators who use the platform. The position follows a hybrid schedule of three days on-site and two days remote. The role is part of a small team building a platform from the ground up, with the opportunity to influence its direction and work directly on tools used by care-delivery teams.
