About The Position

OCLC’s Cloud Library team is seeking an experienced AWS Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable cloud-based applications for libraries and their users worldwide. The role contributes across the software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. The ideal candidate is a full-stack engineer who thrives in a cloud-native environment, solves complex technical challenges, provides technical leadership, and works closely with product, engineering, and operations teams. Full-stack development experience is preferred. The position involves developing applications with Node.js and TypeScript on the backend and Svelte on the frontend; building system-level services and tools with Rust; contributing to React Native mobile features; designing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases; managing Unix/Linux environments; deploying containerized applications with Kubernetes; and working with AWS services such as ECS and S3. Candidates need not have experience with every technology listed, and transferable skills and a willingness to learn are welcomed. The role also includes technical guidance and mentoring, participation in architecture and design reviews, promotion of engineering practices, support for CI/CD and DevOps, production troubleshooting, monitoring and incident response, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver business objectives. OCLC describes a normal office environment with hybrid work flexibility as applicable.
