Senior Software Engineer, Android Internals, Platforms and Devices
About The Position
Google software engineers develop technologies that help billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. The role works on a project critical to Google’s needs, with opportunities to move between teams and projects as the business evolves. Engineers are expected to be versatile, demonstrate leadership, and take on problems across the full stack. In this role, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. The Platforms and Devices team works across Google’s computing software platforms—including desktop, mobile, and applications—as well as first-party devices and services combining Google AI, software, and hardware. The team researches, designs, and develops technologies to make users’ interactions with computing faster and more seamless.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience programming in C++.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
- 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience with Android OS Internals.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
Responsibilities
- Write and test product or system development code.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices, including style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product or program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing their sources and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
- Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
