About The Position

Healthvana is a mission-driven company focused on helping patients, particularly in ending the HIV epidemic in the United States. Requirements

5+ years building and running production web applications.
Strong Python experience, preferably with 3.8+.
Comfort working across the stack; backend-first but not limited to the API boundary.
AI fluency: experience using AI tools, critical evaluation of AI-generated code, and eagerness to adopt AI coding tools.
Strong code review instincts: ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and catch real problems without nitpicking style.
Clear communication skills, able to work compassionately and effectively via Slack and video with diverse teammates.
Comfort with healthcare subject matter, including sexual health, HIV prevention, and STI care.
Mission alignment: genuine desire to help end HIV and passion for healthcare.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must be available to work weekdays during core business hours of 9am–3pm Pacific Time.

Nice To Haves

Django and Django REST Framework experience is strongly preferred, but deep experience with similar frameworks counts.
Familiarity with JavaScript, React, or Next.js is a plus; willingness to work in them is a requirement.
Experience working with PHI in a HIPAA-compliant environment.
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems or healthcare integrations (HL7, FHIR).
A solid understanding of automated testing.
Experience working on telehealth platforms or patient-facing healthcare applications.

Responsibilities

Writing code and tests for the telehealth platform.
Reviewing code written by other engineers and providing constructive feedback.
Improving code review processes and tooling.
Building APIs and business logic for the telehealth platform.
Collaborating closely with a tight-knit team including the Principal Engineer, Chief Architect, Senior Engineering Manager, and Technical Project Manager.
Actively using and exploring AI coding and code review tools within HIPAA constraints.
Contributing across the full stack, including frontend and backend development.
Raising the quality bar for code and processes.
Working with significant autonomy.
