About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer will join a team building a near-real-time pricing platform for shipping customers at a Fortune 500 global logistics company. The role involves working with engineers, data scientists, and analysts to design scalable systems for cost estimation, pricing strategy, and data-driven insights, including tools for rapid experimentation.

The work focuses on distributed systems, cloud-native development, and data-intensive applications, with a growing emphasis on AI-assisted and agentic solutions. The engineer will build and operate backend services and data pipelines, develop front-end experiences, contribute to system design and delivery, and help productionize models and experimentation frameworks. Candidates must be based in Minnesota, Illinois, or Kansas City.

Requirements

• At least 5 years designing and delivering production-grade software.
• At least 5 years of Python backend development.
• At least 5 years with React or another modern front-end framework.
• Experience building cloud-native applications, preferably on Azure, with Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB or a similar database, Snowflake or an equivalent platform, and Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
• Strong background in APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and agentic/LLM frameworks such as LangChain or LangSmith.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Must be based in Minnesota, Illinois, or Kansas City.

Nice To Haves

• Experience partnering with data science teams to put models into production.
• Background in statistical modeling, experimentation, or data-driven decision systems.
• Experience in pricing, logistics, or other high-scale transactional systems.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence technical and product decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, modular near-real-time decisioning systems using microservices, REST APIs, event-driven or streaming architectures, and hybrid relational and NoSQL storage.
• Develop backend services and data pipelines in Python and front-end experiences in React, deployed on Azure with Kubernetes.
• Build data workflows with Airflow and work across MongoDB and Snowflake.
• Own services end-to-end, drive system design decisions, and manage delivery timelines and risk on complex initiatives.
• Partner with data scientists to productionize models and support experimentation frameworks.
• Contribute to agentic and intelligent automation solutions using AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• Lead design discussions and code reviews, mentor other engineers, and champion strong testing and code quality practices.
