About The Position

Prison Fellowship is seeking a driven and mission-focused Senior Software Engineer to maintain and transform legacy applications by building and integrating modern, API-driven applications using React and PHP/Laravel. This role involves serving as a software product SME, owning and improving applications on October CMS, developing high-quality web applications with React and PHP/Laravel, creating and maintaining APIs, building data models, contributing to architectural decisions, and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams.

Requirements

10+ years in software engineering experience
2-5 years software design including frontend, API's, and data models
2-5 years performing code reviews of team members and contractors
2-5 years functioning as lead developer and SME of software products
Strong background designing and consuming APIs in PHP
Solid experience working with PostgreSQL
Proven understanding of SOA and MACH principles
Comfortable working independently while actively collaborating with a team
Clear communication skills and a proactive, stewardship‑driven mindset

Nice To Haves

Experience with Salesforce API's
October CMS experience
PostGres experience
Microsoft SQL Server experience

Responsibilities

Function in software product lane as technical SME, performing code reviews, and other lead functions as required
Maintain and improve current applications running on October CMS
Develop and maintain new high‑quality web applications using React and PHP (Laravel)
Build, enhance, and integrate RESTful APIs in Python and PHP, and work with existing APIs to support business needs within SOA and MACH architectures (Microservices, API‑first, Cloud‑native, Headless)
Build data models according to specified requirements
