About The Position

Join a high-performing Mainframe Support team responsible for the stability and enhancement of business-critical store applications. The role provides exposure to multiple business domains including Finance, Inventory, Pricing, and Receiving while supporting more than 1,200 enterprise mainframe jobs. Team members are encouraged to identify improvement opportunities, contribute to application enhancements, and leverage emerging technologies such as AI and automation to improve operational efficiency. This position offers a unique combination of operational ownership, technical depth, innovation, and collaboration within a globally distributed 24-hour support organization. This isn't a traditional support role. You'll be trusted to solve complex business problems, influence application improvements, contribute to modernization initiatives, and support systems that directly impact store operations worldwide. The role offers a unique blend of production support, engineering collaboration, application analysis, and innovation, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both operational excellence and driving change.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of enterprise mainframe environments.
  • Experience in COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, Control M, Scheduler, and batch processing.
  • Strong understanding of next generation data platforms including GCP, SQL Server.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex application flows.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with development teams to support modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with automation, process improvement, and emerging technologies, including AI-assisted operational solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • OR 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences.
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies.
  • Experience integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
  • Experience supporting accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
