About The Position

The MongoDB Cloud Services Team builds and operates MongoDB Atlas, a database-as-a-service platform that enables customers to deploy fault-tolerant, globally distributed MongoDB clusters. This role is on the Backup Team, which builds infrastructure that helps customers restore distributed databases to a point in time. The team aims to make MongoDB backup more reliable, faster, and less expensive. Its systems include the Go-based Backup Agent, Java server-side infrastructure that manages hundreds of terabytes of data and processes billions of operations per day, and a JavaScript user interface for backup management. Common project themes include performance, scaling, and ease of use. The role follows a hybrid working model and is intended for candidates based in New York City.

Requirements

Skill writing large-scale distributed backend systems in a compiled language such as Java, C#, or Go.
Experience troubleshooting difficult problems in distributed systems environments.
Experience handling production crises.
Experience with Linux and the ability to correlate application performance problems with underlying hardware limits.
Comfort working across the stack of a modern web application.
Willingness to continually expand knowledge.
Curiosity, collaboration, and intellectual honesty.
