About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable, secure software solutions by managing feature implementation, testing, and ongoing support. The team manages talent-related applications within Walmart that support associates in setting goals, reviewing performance, and planning career development. The team integrates advanced technologies, including AI and automation, to enhance platform capabilities. Members engage closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into effective technical solutions while maintaining system reliability and scalability. Requirements

  • Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Strong technical acumen with experience in code review, debugging, and continuous development.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver scoped features or models through iterative and incremental development.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance software solutions.
  • Proficiency in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software aligned with platform objectives.
  • Skilled in full software development lifecycle including CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Own scoped feature and model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and ongoing support.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full SDLC including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software intelligence and leverage generative AI tools to improve development velocity.
  • Assist in solution design by converting high-level concepts into detailed, scalable, and maintainable software systems.
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, and defect management to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and success metrics.
  • Monitor application performance and support continuous integration and deployment practices.
  • Mentor peers and promote engineering best practices.
