At MNTN, we're looking for a Senior Software Engineer for our Attribution squad, the team behind Verified Visits™, our proprietary attribution system that helps brands finally answer the age-old marketing question: "Did this actually work?" Spoiler: it did, and you'll be a part of the team making it happen. Our microservices handle hundreds of millions of requests per day, powering a real-time behavioral marketing platform that drives performance in cross-device advertising. We heavily utilize open source technology alongside in-house solutions to meet the low-latency demands of rapid-response advertising.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience, ideally in Kotlin (Java or Scala also welcome)
  • 3+ years writing production SQL: query optimization, window functions, and schema design against large datasets
  • Experience designing and operating data pipelines with tools like SQLMesh, Airflow, dbt, or similar
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery preferred; Snowflake, Redshift, etc. also relevant)
  • Experience with microservice architectures running on Kubernetes (GKE preferred)
  • Experience with event streaming (Kafka or similar)
  • Python experience for scripting and pipeline work
  • Strong knowledge of modern design patterns and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Comfortable writing effective unit and integration tests with frameworks
  • Proficient with Git and a Linux/UNIX environment
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Cassandra (preferred)
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across a team

Responsibilities

  • Design and build a robust attribution platform that reaches the right audience, anywhere, anytime
  • Build high-volume Kotlin services that are reliable at scale on GCP/GKE
  • Design and own data pipelines using SQLMesh, Airflow, and BigQuery to power attribution analytics and downstream products
  • Write and optimize SQL against large datasets for both production services and analytical workloads
  • Collaborate with and explain complex technical issues to product teams and partner engineering squads
  • Mentor engineers across the team and raise the bar on design, testing, and operational quality
  • Optimize and enhance existing services and pipelines
