About The Position

Microsoft Security is developing an exabyte-scale security data platform that processes information across billions of streams, files, tables, and reports. It brings together security data from on-premises, multi-cloud, and SaaS environments to help organizations discover and understand digital assets, integrate and normalize data from disparate sources, and address security and governance needs. The platform uses graph technologies, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to help customers identify patterns, uncover threats, understand relationships across their digital estate, and make security decisions at scale.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help design, develop, and deliver this platform. You will work on complex distributed systems and data challenges, collaborate across teams, and build scalable solutions that help organizations understand and secure their digital environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, or Python, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background checks upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, or Python; or a bachelor's degree in a related field and 8+ years of such experience; or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing, building, or operating scalable distributed systems, data platforms, or large-scale cloud services.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of security principles and challenges associated with securing large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience developing or operating high-scale, mission-critical software-as-a-service (SaaS) products or services.
• Experience with security data, large-scale data processing, logging, telemetry, monitoring, or related data platforms.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed system design.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders, such as project managers and technical leads, to determine user requirements for a scenario.
• Design, develop, and deliver scalable software solutions for a high-performance data platform processing large volumes of security data across distributed systems.
• Contribute to the architecture and technical design of services that ingest, process, normalize, store, and analyze data from diverse security data sources.
• Build reliable and efficient distributed systems designed to operate at exabyte scale across billions of data streams, files, tables, and reports.
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Use feedback channels to incorporate insights into future designs or solution fixes.
• Ensure continuous feedback loops measure customer value, usage patterns, and other actionable metrics.
