About The Position
Jahnel Group is seeking a highly motivated Mid-Level to Senior Software Engineer for a full-time position with one of their startup clients. This client is building an innovative platform focused on economic development, investment intelligence, and AI-driven analytics. The role offers the opportunity to join an early-stage engineering team, work directly with the founder, mentor junior developers, influence technical direction, and build software with significant potential impact. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving quickly, thrives with ambiguity, embraces AI-assisted development, and enjoys collaborating closely with product leadership. This role involves building production-ready software with minimal oversight, enjoying startup environments with high ownership, mentoring junior developers, considering overall system design, using AI tools daily, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 4+ years (Mid-Level) or 7+ years (Senior) professional software engineering experience
- Strong experience building production web applications
- Experience with Python and modern backend development
- Strong React and TypeScript experience
- Experience designing RESTful APIs
- Experience working with PostgreSQL
- Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS
- Comfortable working in startup environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar as part of daily development
Nice To Haves
- Experience with AI agentic development workflows
- Experience building analytics or dashboard-heavy applications
- Experience integrating public APIs and large datasets

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain full stack web applications
- Develop scalable backend APIs and services
- Build modern React-based user experiences
- Collaborate directly with the founder to shape product direction
- Mentor junior engineers and help establish engineering best practices
- Build integrations with public and third-party data sources
- Develop analytics dashboards and reporting experiences
- Participate in architectural decisions as the platform evolves
- Leverage AI-assisted development workflows throughout the software development lifecycle
- Help scale the engineering organization as the company grows
