About The Position
The PTX Series Routers Packet Forwarding team develops software that forwards data packets through HPE routers and switches used by public cloud, service provider, and mobile networks. The role is to architect and develop packet-forwarding features, work with product line managers to translate feature needs into implementations, and collaborate with test teams to qualify and deliver high-quality products. The engineer also engages with customers, participates in industry forums, and sustains existing features. The role is hybrid, requiring an average of two days per week at an HPE office.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, with a minimum of 8 years of work experience.
- At least 6 years of experience with C programming.
- At least 2 years of experience with C++ programming.
- Strong foundational computer science skills, including algorithms, data structures, and operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with Linux and Python.
- Ability to work as a team player.
Nice To Haves
- A master’s degree is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop packet-forwarding features for PTX Series Routers, including IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, SRv6, multicast, GRE, LAG, and tunneling features.
- Work with Product Line Managers to understand packet-forwarding features and translate them into implementations.
- Work with test teams to qualify and deliver high-quality products.
- Engage with customers.
