About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer on NinjaOne’s team, you will contribute to its IT Operations product suite by designing and implementing scalable solutions and product improvements. You will develop clean, optimized, high-quality software applications for the company’s SaaS backup and recovery platform, building features across backup, archive, restore, and download services used by partners worldwide. The role supports high-availability, mission-critical systems serving customers around the globe. You will work with software engineers, data engineers, and technical leads in the USA and Asia on feature development, product enhancements, production support, and the product roadmap. You will own design and architecture in collaboration with technology leadership, mentor the global engineering team, and contribute code and design patterns to enterprise-scale challenges. The product stack includes Java, Kotlin, Ruby, C#, PostgreSQL, and AWS. The role may be performed remotely from home in the USA if you reside in one of these states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, ME, NC, NJ, NY, OR, OH, TN, TX, VA, or WA. Hybrid work is available at the company’s Austin, TX and Tampa, FL offices. Onsite interviews may be required. The role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. NinjaOne cannot hire for this position within Chicago city limits, but will consider qualified candidates living outside the city or willing to self-relocate. For roles based in California, Colorado, New Jersey, Washington, or New York, the stated base salary range is $140,000–$200,000 per year; starting pay depends on job-related factors.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
10+ years of Java software development experience for product applications or equivalent.
4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
Experience working on systems at scale and finding solutions to scale systems.
Working knowledge of a breadth of object-oriented programming design principles.
Expertise in scaling data structures and object-oriented design.
Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using frameworks such as Jersey or Spring.
Relational database design and development experience.
Expert knowledge of quality testing practices.
Knowledge of operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas.

High adaptability to rapid changes.

Nice To Haves

Solid Kotlin expertise.
Experience with C# and Ruby.
Experience with Big Data, SQL tuning, and ETL.

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable new solutions and product improvements for the IT Operations product suite.
