Senior Software Engineer
About The Position
American United is hiring Senior Engineers to design, build, and deploy cloud-based data and application solutions. The work primarily uses Python on Azure, with Databricks and modern DevOps practices, along with AI-assisted developer tools to improve software delivery. Some positions also involve Java and Spring Boot or machine learning workloads. The role may be on-site or hybrid in Phoenix, Arizona, or Fort Worth, Texas; applicants should confirm the arrangement with the hiring team. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Requirements
- Strong, hands-on experience with Python development.
- Experience with Azure cloud technologies, including Azure ML and Azure Container Apps, or IBM Cloud / IKS.
- Working knowledge of Databricks and Delta Lake.
- Proficiency in SQL and shell scripting.
- Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control and CI/CD.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tools, such as GitHub Copilot.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with TensorFlow and machine learning model development or deployment.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration, including Azure Container Apps or Kubernetes / IKS.
- Familiarity with additional Azure services relevant to data and machine learning workloads.
- Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Python applications and data pipelines.
- Build and manage data solutions using Databricks and Delta Lake.
- Deploy and operate workloads on Azure, including Azure ML and Azure Container Apps, or IBM Cloud / IKS, depending on the team.
- Write and optimize SQL queries and shell scripts to support data processing and automation.
- Develop and maintain Java / Spring Boot services for select positions.
- Build and train machine learning models with TensorFlow for select positions.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Use AI-assisted developer tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile team ceremonies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and document solutions and best practices.
