We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in GPU, graphics, and low-level embedded software for the Next Generation A2G Graphics Driver software development program. You will architect, implement, and test Khronos-based graphics APIs (OpenGL SC, Vulkan SC) and GPU drivers within the VxWorks real-time operating system. This role supports safety-critical aerospace platforms and requires strong systems-level thinking, hardware interaction, and high-reliability software development.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing OpenGL SC or Vulkan SC on embedded VxWorks platforms.
  • Background in GPU architecture, shader compilers, memory management, or command processors.
  • Experience with BSP bring-up or hardware abstraction layer development.
  • Strong C/C++, static analysis tools, and safe coding practices.
  • Knowledge of aerospace communication buses and safety-critical design.
  • Experience contributing to DO-178 certification activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement graphics APIs (OpenGL SC, Vulkan SC) for embedded aerospace systems running VxWorks.
  • Develop GPU drivers, command pipelines, memory management systems, and rendering flows.
  • Write and optimize shaders (GLSL, SPIR-V) for deterministic, real-time performance.
  • Integrate GPU subsystems exclusively into the VxWorks RTOS environment.
  • Perform hardware/software bring-up, debugging timing issues, startup sequencing, and synchronization problems.
  • Support DO-178 certification processes, documentation, and traceability.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and display teams to deliver integrated graphics capabilities.
  • Communicate risks, progress, and technical decisions clearly to engineering leadership.
