Senior Software Engineer, Consumer
About The Position
Toast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build web solutions that expand how guests interact with Toast Local, its consumer-facing digital dining product. The role is part of a team of frontend, backend, and native mobile engineers creating digital restaurant experiences for guests. The Consumer team focuses on exceptional consumer experiences, innovation, and scalable, reliable products used by millions of restaurant-goers. The engineer will lead the team’s web work, build cross-platform experiences with mobile and backend colleagues, and work across the stack from React and Next.js to supporting services. The role also involves testing new dining experiences with guests and restaurants and shipping code that advances the growth and strategy of Toast’s consumer business.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a full-stack software engineer.
- Strong frontend experience building modern web applications with React and TypeScript.
- Backend experience building GraphQL or REST APIs.
- Take ownership of work from start to finish, including shipping, launch, rollout monitoring, and results analysis.
- Have a point of view on consumer products and a desire to shape what gets built, not just how.
- A proven track record of leading technical projects with cross-team impact and cross-functional collaboration.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with native frontend development for iOS or Android.
- Experience with Next.js.
- Experience with Kotlin or Java.
