Defendify is seeking a senior, hands-on software engineer to build and ship features across the full stack of its production cybersecurity platform, which is used by thousands of organizations. The engineer will own features end to end, from understanding the problem and creating technical specifications through implementation, testing, and production operation. The role is part of a lean engineering team and reports to the Director of Engineering, working closely with engineering leadership, other engineers, and the product team. This is a generalist role across backend services, frontend features, data pipelines, integrations, and infrastructure as needed. The platform is built primarily with Go and Node.js, and uses technologies including Express, NATS messaging, OpenTofu, Postgres, Valkey, and Vue. The engineer is expected to learn new languages and systems as needed, contribute to architectural decisions, and help maintain the platform's security, reliability, and conceptual consistency. The role involves writing and reviewing code, resolving production issues, participating in on-call support, improving monitoring and reliability, and contributing to structured sprints and planning. Engineers own the full lifecycle of their work, from infrastructure and testing through production operations. The team uses AI-assisted engineering tools as part of its daily workflow, while relying on engineering judgment to verify or override their output. The role is remote-first and open to candidates in the Portland, Maine area or working remotely, with hybrid arrangements available. The company prefers U.S.-based candidates who can occasionally visit its Portland headquarters for collaboration and team activities.
